Keep a Fireplace Going All Night
If you’re planning on keeping your fireplace burning all night, there are a few things you’ll need to do to make sure it stays lit.
1. Ensure That The Damper Is Fully Open
The first thing you’ll need to do is to make sure that the damper in your fireplace is fully open. If it’s not, then the oxygen needed to keep the fire going will be limited, and it will eventually go out.
2. Use The Right Type Of Wood
If you’re using wood to keep your fire going, it’s important to use the right type. Hardwoods like oak and maple are ideal, as they burn slowly and evenly. Softwoods like pine should be avoided, as they burn quickly and can cause the fire to flare up and then die down just as quickly.
3. Build A Strong Base
Once you have your wood, you’ll need to build a strong base for the fire. This means stacking the logs in a way that will allow plenty of oxygen to circulate, ensuring that the fire has everything it needs to stay lit.
4. Warm The Chimney
If you want to make sure your fireplace stays lit all night, it’s a good idea to warm the chimney before lighting the fire. This can be done by lighting a piece of paper and holding it up the chimney for a few minutes. Doing this will help to create an updraft, which will make it easier for the fire to get going and stay lit.
5. Maintain The Air Supply
Another important thing to remember if you want to keep your fireplace going all night is to maintain the air supply. This means opening up any doors or windows that are near the fireplace, as well as using a fan to help circulate the air.
By doing this, you’ll ensure that the fire has enough oxygen to keep burning through the night.
Other things you can do:

- Burn Room Temperature Wood
- Burn Hardwood Logs
- Add A Couple of Logs At A Time
- Don’t Add Large Logs Too Early Into A Fire
- Keep Your Chimney Clean
- Burn Hotter Fires
